Grape Variety:
100% Chasselas
Tasting Note:
A white wine of the Chasselas variety grown on a single plot in Eguisheim that the Barthelmé grow biodynamically. This plot has a calcareous clay soil with an abundance of marnas, and was planted more than fifty years ago. This is a manually harvested wine that ferments in a single 750-liter amphora. This clay amphora fired at high temperature, with very little silica, allows a two-month malolactic fermentation included. And then the wine continues its aging until the following spring, with the fine lees, after a very light filtration. We are facing a wine of a beautiful golden color, to the eye it seems almost a liquor. With a delicious nose, the amphora of a wine of a precise style, fat like the variety and fresh thanks to the amphora. We find peaches from Alsace, but also almonds in the aftertaste. It goes very well with cooked pasta cheeses as well as summer salads. A wine to enjoy.
